This Privacy Policy explains how Mylonas Crosswords (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website at mylonas.xyz and the Mylonas Crosswords app (together, the “Service”).

By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Username — used to identify your account
  • First name and last name — used on the leaderboard and in email greetings
  • Email address — used for login, puzzle notifications, and account communication
  • Password — stored securely in hashed form; we never store or see your plain-text password

When you use the Service, we also collect:

  • Puzzle completion data — solve times and scores, used to calculate leaderboard rankings
  • Membership level — your account type (e.g. Daily Solver, Founding Solver)
  • Device notification token — if you allow notifications in the app, a device token is generated by Google Firebase Cloud Messaging so we can send you puzzle alerts. We use this only to deliver notifications and do not store it ourselves.
  • Non-personal data — browser type, device type, IP address, and pages visited, collected automatically for analytics and site improvement

We do not collect sensitive personal data such as financial information, health data, or precise location.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate your account and provide access to puzzles, the archive, and the leaderboard
  • Send puzzle notifications — by email (you can unsubscribe at any time) and, if you allow them, as push notifications in the app (you can turn these off in your device settings)
  • Display your name and scores on the leaderboard
  • Improve the crossword puzzles and overall experience
  • Maintain the security and functionality of the Service

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party.

3. Cookies and Analytics

The Service may use basic cookies and analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) to understand general usage trends. Cookies help us see which features are most popular and improve the overall experience.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings if you prefer.

4. Third-Party Services

The Service uses the following third-party services:

  • WordPress and Paid Memberships Pro — to manage accounts and membership
  • Google Analytics — for anonymous usage statistics
  • Email delivery services — to send puzzle notification emails
  • Google Firebase Cloud Messaging — to deliver push notifications to the app

We may also link to external platforms. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those external sites.

5. Data Storage and Security

All personal information is stored securely on our hosting servers. Passwords are hashed and cannot be viewed by us or anyone else. Email correspondence is handled through secure email servers.

Push notifications in the app are delivered through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging. The device token used for delivery is processed by Google and is not stored by us; you can stop notifications at any time by disabling them in your device settings.

The Service is currently free and does not process payments. If we introduce paid features in the future, payments will be handled by trusted providers and we will never store card details.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of any personal data we hold about you
  • Correction — ask us to update or correct your data
  • Deletion — ask us to delete your account and all associated data, including leaderboard scores
  • Withdraw consent — unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link in any email, turn off app notifications in your device settings, or contact us

7. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the Service or legal requirements. Updates will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
